#58 | what's always in my bag, vol. i
I keep these with me at all times - in my car, at my desk, & in every bag I carry
My middle school years are marked by plenty of formative memories — some fun, some embarrassing 😅 — but one that stands out is the ubiquity of cinnamon Altoids.
When I tell you I burned my mouth raw with the sheer amount of these things I consumed! And I wasn’t the only one; we were often passing them around to friends and I can only imagine how our teacher dealt with the cinnamon smell mixed with Axe body spray on a daily basis.
It’s been years since I was on that cinnamon kick but I recently discovered a new favorite, on the opposite end of the spectrum: Ice Breakers Sours, specifically in the watermelon/green apple/tangerine mix. I spontaneously grabbed a pack in the checkout line at Target a few months ago & I’ve been hooked ever since.
In addition to being a fun little burst of flavor, they’ve also been serving a functional purpose. Since 2019, I’ve been on & off of a few different medications that all list “dry mouth” as a rare side effect. But lucky me, I’m always in the group affected by it!
After so many years, I’ve built up an arsenal of the standard antidotes: special lozenges, mouth wash, gum, etc. specially formulated to combat dry mouth. They offer some temporary relief but aren’t particularly enjoyable otherwise.
These sours have been such a delightful alternative to the typical methods — they’re not designed for these purposes, of course, but they have the same end result for me & for that I am grateful.
(So grateful, in fact, that I have been buying them in packs of 8 from Amazon so I never run out!)
As a fellow dry mouth sufferer, I look forward to trying these this weekend!
